Leadership in Innovation: A Conversation with MN Hafizuddin M. Husen, CEO & Managing Director of Antea Asia Pacific

From its roots in Padova, Italy to its strategic expansion into Southeast Asia, Antea has been at the forefront of Asset Integrity Management (AIM) for over 35 years. Established in 1989, the company has built a reputation for delivering cutting-edge, risk-based inspection (RBI) software powered by 3D digital twin technology and IoT integration.

In 2019, recognizing Southeast Asia’s growing prominence in the global energy landscape, Antea launched its Kuala Lumpur office. Today, the newly incorporated Antea Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd marks a pivotal chapter in the company’s regional growth. With a diversified portfolio spanning oil & gas, renewables, logistics, ports, plantations, and electric mobility, Antea is redefining asset performance and safety across industries.

We sat down with MN Hafizuddin M. Husen, CEO and Managing Director, to explore Antea’s strategic vision, market dynamics, and leadership philosophy.

1. For those unfamiliar with Antea, what is the company’s core value proposition?

Antea is a global leader in Asset Integrity Management software, distinguished by its integration of 3D Digital Twin technology. Our platform empowers industries—ranging from oil & gas and petrochemicals to power generation and pipelines—with real-time asset intelligence. Key capabilities include:

  • Advanced corrosion monitoring and thickness measurement to reduce downtime and inspection costs.
  • RBI methodologies aligned with API 580 & 581 standards.
  • Seamless data integration across enterprise systems.
  • Mobile-enabled, hands-free inspections for field teams.
  • Scalable solutions for both single-site operators and multinational enterprises.

Our mission is to help clients extend the life, safety, and efficiency of their critical assets through intelligent, data-driven decision-making.

2. How does Antea promote awareness of AIM’s importance in Malaysia and the region?

We actively engage the market through webinars, podcasts, and participation in key industry events such as OGA, SPE forums, MPRC conferences, and MOGSC platforms. Beyond education, our focus is on instilling a sense of urgency around safety and quality—especially in managing pressurized vessels, piping systems, valves, and barrier equipment. Protecting lives and assets is at the heart of our message.

3. Why was Southeast Asia—and Malaysia in particular—chosen as Antea’s regional hub?

Malaysia offers a strategic geographic position and robust infrastructure, making it an ideal launchpad for regional growth. The availability of skilled talent, combined with a culture of trust, ethics, and hospitality, aligns perfectly with our global values. Malaysians bring a unique blend of IQ, EQ, and SQ, which contributes to a dynamic and collaborative work environment. It’s a natural fit for leading one of our 11 global offices.

4. What trends are shaping the AIM sector in Asia-Pacific?

Three major forces are driving transformation:

  • ESG Compliance: Companies are prioritizing sustainability and regulatory alignment.
  • Value Optimization: There’s a growing demand for solutions that systematically manage compliance, reduce redundancy, and maximize ROI.
  • AI and robots: Strategic partnerships are accelerating the adoption of AI and robots in asset management.

Our unique value lies in our 3D SaaS platform, which offers rapid deployment, API-ready integration, and full data ownership. This empowers clients to unlock operational efficiencies while maintaining control and confidence in their systems.

5. As a Malaysian CEO leading an Italian-founded company, how has cultural diversity influenced your leadership?

Communication and coordination are key. Growing up in Kampung Sungai Penchala taught me resilience and humility—traits that continue to shape my leadership style. Leading a lean, agile tech company requires a deep understanding of each team member’s strengths.

My global experiences—from studying in Cardiff to working with multinational corporations—have enriched my perspective. I’m grateful to my mentors, educators, and peers who have guided me on this journey.

6. What’s next for Antea Asia Pacific?

We’re expanding rapidly across Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan, India, Philippines, and China. Our client base now includes refineries, utilities, petrochemical plants, upstream operations, and floating production systems. We’re also exploring opportunities in solar and wind energy.

On the technology front, we’re continuously enhancing our software—especially our 3D engine and AI capabilities—to deliver even greater value. Our goal is to remain at the forefront of innovation while supporting our clients in achieving operational excellence.

We are participating in the upcoming OGA 2025 happening on the 2nd to 4th of September 2025. We look forward welcoming you to our booth within the Italian Pavilion.
