1. Can you tell our readers a little bit more about your restaurant?
Ciao opened in 1991, it was one of the first authentic Italian restaurants by then, nestled in an old colonial house with a big garden. Ciao was the pioneer to introduce real Italian cuisine in Kl and it has been a benchmark for the Italian food industry since then.
2. As the owner of Ciao Ristorante, what motivated you to establish an Italian dining establishment in Kuala Lumpur, and how do you ensure an authentic Italian experience for your patrons?
In the ’90’s the country offered good opportunities to start your own business and the population showed great interest in Italian cuisine. I guarantee an authentic Italian experience just by creating an Italian environment. Foodwise I try to keep things simple and traditional as much as possible.
3. How do you infuse regional flavours and traditional recipes into your menu? Are there any signature dishes that mirror the essence of Ciao Ristorante?
Being in a tropical country we need to plan a menu suitable for everybody. Basically, like we do in Italy, we avoid certain types of food during summer and tend to eat lighter.
4. With Italy’s renowned wine culture, how do you approach the selection of wines for Ciao Ristorante? Are there any specific wine and food pairings you would recommend from your extensive collection?
Italian wines are already well known in this country so we try to combine a mixture of labels from different parts of Italy.
5. How does Ciao Ristorante aim to transport diners to a genuine Italian dining experience in the heart of Kuala Lumpur?
Being in business for 33 years we have already transported diners to a genuine Italian dining experience. Now our aim is to continue our legacy for more years to come.
6. Ciao Ristorante was established in 1991. What is the secret of its longevity? How has the restaurant evolved since it first opened?
The secret is just the passion and the strength provided by the owner. Ciao evolved modeling a strong philosophy and with the ambitions to continue his longevity
7. What are the upcoming initiatives and events you are organizing?
We are already hosting a lot of corporate events and weddings so At the moment we are just dedicated to providing our genuine cuisine.
