Kuala Lumpur City Opera (“KLCO”) is proud to present one of the most beloved of all Donizetti’s operas, The Elixir of Love on 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 & 22 October 2023 at Pentas 1, Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (“KLPAC”).

This is the second time KLCO is presenting this opera with the first in 2014.  

L’elisir d’amore, (Italian: “The Elixir of Love” or “The Love Potion”)  is a romantic comedy set in the countryside of Italy during the 1940s about a country bumpkin, Nemorino who is in love with a wealthy landowner, Adina who torments him with her indifference. One day, Nemorino bought a bottle of elixir from Dulcamara the travelling salesman and believes that Adina will fall madly in love with him.

The production features 70 performers performing popular arias such “Una furtiva lagrima (The furtive tear)”, “Quanto e bella, quanto e cara” (Look how beautiful, look how dear she is) and choruses filled with vocal acrobatics and musical fireworks. Sung in Italian with English and Chinese surtitles.
